Items Accepted
The following can be recycled at the Transfer Station:
Aluminum foil and pie plates; aluminum, tin and steel cans and lids
Appliances (see fee schedule on Transfer Station page)
Automotive batteries (see fee schedule on Transfer Station page)
Beer bottles
Books, small, reusable household items (leave in Swap Shed)
Bottle caps, plastic (place on original bottle, otherwise, put in trash)
Brown paper bags
Bulky/rigid plastic
Cell phones. Leave in Universal Waste Shed.
Christmas trees
Clothes and shoes (place in bags and drop in collection box). Bay State Textiles bin also accepts duffle bags, back packs, stuffed animals, accessories and linens. Can be in any condition but must be clean, dry and odor-free.
Corrugated cardboard (must be flattened)
Electronics (see fee schedule on Transfer Station page)
Fire extinguishers
Furniture (see fee schedule on Transfer Station page)
Glass bottles and jars (lids ok)
Latex paint, must be dried.
Mercury-containing materials: fluorescent bulbs, silent light switches, thermostats and thermometers. Leave in Universal Waste Shed. These items are toxic and should never be put in your trash. For more information, see Keep Mercury From Rising.
Motor oil
Newspaper
Paper, including junk mail, cereal boxes, magazines, etc. No need to remove staples, binder clips or cellophane windows.
Pizza boxes, corrugated cardboard only. Remove as much food as possible.
Plastic bottles, jars, jugs and tubs (clean and empty, lids ok)
Propane Tanks (1 lb and 20 lb) (see fee schedule on Transfer Station page)
Rechargeable batteries such as Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Nickel Zinc (Ni-ZN), Lithium Ion (Li-Ion), Small Sealed Lead (SSLA/Pb) and button batteries. No larger than 11 lbs. Place in plastic bag in collection box in the Universal Waste Shed.
