The North Central Regional Solid Waste Cooperative
(NCRSWC) was established on April 1, 2005 when the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts made grant monies available to establish a regional waste
cooperative. Several neighboring communities took advantage of this
opportunity and joined together to form the North Central Regional Solid
Waste Cooperative, (NCRSWC). The purpose of the cooperative is to
provide group buying power and technical assistance to its member
communities in all areas of solid waste handling including negotiate and
facilitate waste related contracts such as recycling, collection,
hauling and hazardous waste removal and transfer station contracts. Each
member community pays an annual administrative assessment and evaluates
annually whether or not the benefits outweigh the cost of membership.
Grant applications and fee for service programs for member and
non-member communities are being explored to off-set future
administrative assessments. The cooperative has a director, Tessa David.
